My academic research, engagement etc.

  • Welcome to my journal

    Hi, I’m Shantesh Kelvekar.

I am an architect, a landscape urbanist, and a partner at Reading Grounds, the practice I established in 2014 along with Preetanshi Singh.

For over a decade, my work has oscillated between the rigor of professional practice and the exploration of academia. Whether I am designing a landscape for a project or discussing architectural history with my students, I find that the most interesting part of architecture isn’t always the finished building – it’s the process.

I find that the most interesting part of architecture isn’t always the finished building – it’s the process.

    Why this blog?

In a world of finished renders and perfect Instagram feeds, I wanted a space to document the “thinking” behind the work. This site is a digital archive for:

    • The Process: Sketches, site visits, and the messy reality of construction.
    • The Academic: Notes from my time teaching and my ongoing interest in design movements and history.
    • The Practice: Updates from our own studio in Bengaluru and our projects across the region.

I plan to use this space to share not just what we build, but how we think about the built environment.

    Thanks for stopping by.
